Leonard Knight, the American folk artist that created the monumental work called #SalvationMountain near Niland, CA died today at age 82. The man made mountain he built took over 27 years of work. He had no real belongings and lived the back of a truck most of that time. Leonard was without a doubt one of the greatest folk artists in American history, and beyond that he was one of the greatest men I have ever personally known in my lifetime. His singular goal in life was to spread one message with his art: GOD IS LOVE. You made the world a better place my friend. Burn by Goulding (“We got the fire”): ‘And it was at the breaking of the old year, at the edge of the new, and upon the heights that our eyes have always looked to; it was there that we knew we would never let this go.’
“The best people possess a feeling for beauty, the courage to take risks, the discipline to tell the truth, the capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable; they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed.” - Ernest Hemingway
